You must be of the age of majority in the place where the trip occurs. (19 years old in British Columbia, 18 years old in Alberta and Nepal)
HImal Ski Guiding reserves the right to change venue or route if conditions in the mountains are too dangerous.
I (Ali Hogg) plan on being the lead guide on all Himal Ski Guiding trips. However, I reserve the right to hire another certified ACMG Ski Guide to guide on my behalf if I am unable to guide a trip due to unforeseen circumstances. In this situation, I will only use a guide that I know personally and have full confidence in.
Cancellation Policy:
If we have to cancel a trip before departure we will work with you to reschedule you on another departure date. If this option doesn’t work for you we will issue you a full refund.
If we have to cancel a trip at short notice due to a major unforeseen event such as a pandemic or natural disaster we will refund you the full amount minus any costs we cannot recover from third-party logistics and services suppliers.
If we have to cancel a trip once it has started due to reasons out of our control (weather, mountain conditions, injuries etc.) no refund will be issued.
If you have to cancel a booking for any reason the following conditions apply:
More than 3 months before departure date: Your deposit will be withheld, any remaining balance will be refunded.
Less than 3 months before departure date or at any point during the trip: No refund will be given.
You may find someone else to take your place on the trip as long as they meet the prerequisites.
Cancellations must be made in writing by email to: himalskiguiding@gmail.com
Trip cancellation/interruption insurance is recommended.
Mountain Rescue and Travel Insurance:
You are responsible for all costs that you may incur in the event that you require mountain rescue or evacuation due to an accident or illness while on a Himal Ski Guiding trip.
You are responsible for any costs incurred due to a hospital stay, medical treatment, or any other travel-related emergency.
You are responsible for any costs you incur from missed flights or other ongoing travel arrangements in the event that our trip is extended due to unforeseen circumstances. This includes, but is not limited to: our scheduled flight out of the mountains being delayed due to bad weather, or road closures.
We recommend having trip cancellation/interruption insurance and booking a changeable ticket for your flight home. Travel insurance is recommended for all trips outside of your home country.
Nepal:
For all trips to Nepal, travel insurance with mountain rescue coverage is mandatory. You are responsible for obtaining an insurance policy. Make sure that helicopter evacuation for an incident while backcountry skiing and mountaineering up to altitudes of 6500m is included in your policy. Here are some companies that provide this type of coverage:
Canada:
For trips in Canada, it is up to you whether you want to purchase mountain rescue insurance. Here is some info to help with your decision:
In the National Parks of Canada, mountain rescue is free if you have purchased a valid National Park Pass.
Outside of the National Parks, mountain rescue is free if provided by a volunteer Search and Rescue (SAR) team. If we call for help using our Inreach SOS button a SAR team will be dispatched to respond and you will not be charged. However, there are situations where it is faster and more appropriate to get help from a nearby guiding operation or request a helicopter evacuation directly from the helicopter company. In these cases, you will be charged for the full cost of the rescue.
In all cases, you will be charged for the cost of an ambulance if it is part of the rescue. This is true for Canadians and foreigners.
Foreigners will also be charged for the cost of a hospital stay. Travel insurance is strongly recommended for foreigners visiting Canada.
